Laparoscopic Digestive Surgery Services

1. Diagnostic Laparoscopy

Diagnostic laparoscopy is a procedure that allows doctors to directly observe the inside of the abdomen or pelvis to establish a diagnosis. This procedure is performed in a hospital under general anesthesia, so the patient does not feel pain.

2. Laparoscopic Hernia Surgery

Laparoscopic hernia surgery is a minimally invasive surgical procedure to repair a hernia using small incisions and a special camera (laparoscope). This technique allows surgeons to visualize and repair the hernia more precisely through smaller incisions compared to traditional open surgery, resulting in faster recovery and minimal pain.

3. Laparoscopic Appendectomy

Laparoscopic appendectomy is a minimally invasive operation to remove an inflamed appendix using small abdominal incisions. The procedure involves a small camera (laparoscope) and specialized surgical instruments inserted through these incisions to visualize the organs on a monitor and remove the appendix. This technique offers advantages such as less pain, faster healing, smaller scars, and shorter recovery time compared to conventional open surgery.

4. Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure to remove the gallbladder using laparoscopic techniques. It involves several small abdominal incisions through which the surgeon inserts a laparoscope (a camera-equipped instrument) and specialized tools to visualize and remove the gallbladder. Benefits include quicker recovery, reduced pain, and shorter hospital stays compared to open surgery.

5. Laparoscopic Liver Resection

Laparoscopic liver resection is a minimally invasive surgical procedure to remove part or all of the liver (also known as hepatectomy) using small incisions instead of a large open incision. This procedure is performed to treat serious liver conditions such as liver cancer, cysts, or benign tumors, offering advantages such as faster recovery and smaller scars.

6. Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery

Laparoscopic bariatric surgery is a type of weight-loss surgery performed using laparoscopic techniques. It utilizes small incisions and a mini camera to minimize trauma, speed up recovery, and reduce the risk of complications compared to open surgery. The goal is to reduce stomach size or alter the digestive system so patients feel full more quickly and consume less food, helping individuals with severe obesity lose weight.

7. Laparoscopic Colorectal Resection/Surgery

Laparoscopic colorectal resection is a minimally invasive surgical procedure to remove diseased or damaged portions of the colon or rectum, such as in cases of cancer, diverticulitis, or obstruction. This technique uses several small abdominal incisions for inserting surgical instruments and a camera, allowing the operation to be guided by real-time images rather than a large open incision.

8. Laparoscopic Cardiomyotomy for Achalasia

Laparoscopic Heller myotomy for achalasia is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat achalasia, a condition in which the lower esophageal sphincter fails to relax properly, causing difficulty swallowing and regurgitation of food.

9. Laparoscopic Gastrectomy

Laparoscopic gastrectomy (Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy / LSG) is a minimally invasive weight-loss surgical procedure that removes a large portion of the stomach (approximately 75%), reshaping it into a slim tube using small abdominal incisions and a laparoscope. This reduces food capacity and decreases the production of the hunger hormone (ghrelin).

10. Laparoscopic Pancreatic Surgery

Laparoscopic pancreatic resection is a minimally invasive surgical procedure to remove part of the pancreas (such as benign or malignant tumors) using laparoscopic instruments inserted through small incisions, unlike open surgery which requires a large incision. This method provides good visualization of the pancreas and surrounding organs, allowing for faster patient recovery.

11. Laparoscopic Adhesiolysis (Intestinal Adhesions)

Laparoscopic adhesiolysis is a minimally invasive (keyhole) surgical procedure that uses a laparoscope to separate adhesions between sections of the intestine or between the intestine and other abdominal organs. It is performed to address conditions such as bowel obstruction, pain, or other complications, and offers benefits including smaller incisions, less postoperative pain, and quicker recovery compared to open surgery.

Urology

1. Prostate Endosurgery

Prostate endosurgery is a minimally invasive surgical procedure to treat prostate enlargement, whether caused by benign conditions (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia/BPH) or prostate cancer. This procedure is performed by inserting specialized instruments through the urinary tract (urethra), eliminating the need for large surgical incisions.

2. Stent Placement

Urological stent placement is a procedure performed by a urologist to insert a small J-shaped tube (called a DJ stent) into the ureter, the channel connecting the kidney and the bladder. This helps ensure smooth urine flow and prevents obstruction after surgery or due to conditions such as kidney stones, ureteral narrowing, or postoperative complications.

3. Cystoscopy

Cystoscopy is a medical procedure that uses a cystoscope (a thin tube equipped with a light and camera) to examine the inside of the urethra and bladder. It is used to diagnose, monitor, and treat urinary tract conditions such as infections, obstructions, or cancer.

4. Lithotripsy / Kidney Stones

Kidney stone lithotripsy refers to non-surgical methods used to break kidney stones into smaller fragments so they can be passed naturally through urine. The most common techniques include Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL), which uses shock waves generated outside the body, and Laser Lithotripsy, which uses laser technology to fragment the stones.

Gynecology

1. Ovarian Cyst

An ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac that forms inside or on the surface of the ovary. Most ovarian cysts are harmless (benign), do not cause symptoms, and may resolve on their own. However, some types of cysts can grow larger, cause pain, or lead to serious complications such as ovarian torsion (twisting of the ovary) or cyst rupture.

2. Uterine Fibroids (Myoma Uteri)

Uterine fibroids, also known as leiomyomas, are benign tumors that grow in the uterus and are rarely cancerous. This condition often causes no symptoms, but larger fibroids may lead to heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, urinary problems, constipation, back pain, and fertility issues. Diagnosis is made through clinical examination and ultrasound, while treatment ranges from observation to surgery, depending on symptoms and the patient’s desire for future pregnancy.

3. Hysterectomy (Uterus Removal)

Laparoscopic hysterectomy is a minimally invasive procedure to remove the uterus through several small incisions in the abdomen, using a laparoscope (a thin tube with a camera) to guide the instruments. This procedure typically offers a faster recovery time and less postoperative pain compared to traditional open hysterectomy and can be an alternative treatment for conditions such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis, or gynecologic cancers.

4. Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a medical condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus (endometrium) grows outside the uterus. This tissue may develop on organs such as the ovaries, fallopian tubes, intestines, or even the abdominal wall. The abnormal growth can cause various problems, including severe menstrual pain, chronic pelvic pain, and fertility issues.

5. Adenomyosis

Adenomyosis is a gynecological condition in which the endometrial tissue grows into the muscular wall of the uterus (myometrium). This can cause the uterus to enlarge and may result in severe menstrual pain, heavy and prolonged menstrual bleeding, and chronic pelvic or abdominal pain. This condition commonly affects women between the ages of 40 and 50.

6. Endometrial Polyps

Endometrial polyps are benign (non-cancerous) overgrowths of tissue in the inner lining of the uterus (endometrium) that may protrude into the uterine cavity. Their size can range from as small as a sesame seed to as large as a golf ball or even larger. Although generally benign, these polyps may cause symptoms such as irregular menstruation, heavy bleeding, or fertility problems.

7. Ectopic Pregnancy

Ectopic pregnancy is a medical emergency in which a fertilized egg implants and grows outside the uterus, most commonly in the fallopian tube, but it may also occur in the ovary, cervix, or abdominal cavity. The fetus cannot survive outside the uterus, and this condition can cause severe bleeding and be life-threatening for the mother if not treated promptly. Diagnosis is usually made through ultrasound and blood tests, and treatment may involve medication or surgery, depending on the severity of the condition.

8. Operative Hysteroscopy

Operative hysteroscopy is an advanced procedure following diagnostic hysteroscopy that allows simultaneous treatment of abnormalities within the uterine cavity, such as removal of polyps, fibroids, endometrial ablation, or treatment of adhesions. This procedure is performed to address issues such as abnormal uterine bleeding, infertility, or recurrent miscarriage. The doctor uses small surgical instruments inserted through a hysteroscope (a thin tube with a camera) to perform corrective treatment immediately once abnormalities are detected.

ENT

1. Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS)

Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that uses an endoscope (a thin tube equipped with a camera) to clear and reopen blocked sinus passages, such as in cases of chronic sinusitis or nasal polyps.

The goal is to restore normal sinus function, improve airflow and mucus drainage, and maintain healthy sinus function without large incisions or damage to surrounding tissues.

2. Endoscopic Medial Maxillectomy / Modified Denker’s Approach

Endoscopic medial maxillectomy, also known as the modified Denker’s approach, is an endoscopic surgical procedure used to treat pathologies of the maxillary sinus and its anterior wall, such as benign tumors.

This procedure aims to remove abnormal tissue, reduce the morbidity (tissue damage) commonly associated with open surgery, and minimize the risk of tumor recurrence.

3. Endoscopic Lateral Transpterygoid Approach

The endoscopic lateral transpterygoid approach is a minimally invasive surgical technique that allows neurosurgeons or ENT specialists to access difficult-to-reach areas at the skull base.

This procedure uses an endoscope—a thin tube equipped with a camera—that is inserted through the nasal cavity.

4. Endoscopic Prelacrimal Recess Approach

The endoscopic prelacrimal recess approach is a surgical technique used to access the maxillary sinus by creating a corridor through the prelacrimal recess, a concave area located between the piriform aperture and the nasolacrimal duct.

This technique is a variation of endoscopic medial maxillectomy and allows procedures such as foreign body removal, particularly within the maxillary sinus.

5. Endoscopic Sinonasal Tumor Surgery

Endoscopic sinonasal tumor surgery is a minimally invasive procedure that uses an endoscope (a small telescope) to diagnose and remove tumors in the nasal cavity and sinuses without the need for external incisions.

This type of endoscopic surgery aims to clear sinus passages and remove tumors under general anesthesia.

6. Endoscopic CSF Leak Repair

Endoscopic CSF leak repair is a minimally invasive surgical procedure performed to repair cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage. CSF is the fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord.

Leaks may occur through openings in the skull base due to trauma, congenital defects, or other medical conditions.

7. Endoscopic Orbital Decompression

Endoscopic orbital decompression is a surgical procedure performed to enlarge the eye socket by removing parts of the medial and inferior orbital walls. This allows swollen tissue to move into the sinus cavity, reducing eye protrusion (proptosis), relieving pressure on the optic nerve, and improving vision.

The procedure is performed through the nose using an endoscope and specialized surgical instruments.
