SURABAYA – National Hospital has officially signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Guangzhou Concord Cancer Center (GCCC), China, as a strategic step to strengthen the development of an Integrated Cancer Center in Indonesia.
The collaboration marks an important milestone in delivering international-standard cancer services through the utilization of advanced technology and a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach. Through the signing of the LoI, both institutions agreed to establish a long-term cooperation framework focused on enhancing the quality of cancer diagnosis, therapy, and clinical management at National Hospital.
CEO of National Hospital, Ang Hoey Tiong, stated that the collaboration reflects the hospital’s commitment to providing the best cancer care services for the people of Indonesia.
“We are ready to deliver increasingly comprehensive, modern, and internationally standardized cancer services for the Indonesian community. Since its establishment in 2012, National Hospital has continuously innovated in various healthcare fields, including the development of cancer services,” said Ang Hoey Tiong at National Hospital.
The agreed scope of cooperation includes several key areas.
First, advanced technology transfer & radiotherapy. This includes cooperation in implementing modern radiotherapy technologies, including but not limited to Proton Therapy systems and LINAC, to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of cancer treatment.
Second, a sister hospital program. This program involves the exchange of medical professionals, such as oncology specialists, nurses, and medical physicists, for clinical training programs, competency development, and service management enhancement.
Third, telemedicine & remote consultations. This program provides second opinion services and case discussions through digital-based Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) forums, enabling patients to receive more comprehensive therapy recommendations.
Fourth, integrated clinical research. This includes collaborative research and clinical trials in the field of oncology to improve the effectiveness of cancer treatment, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region.
President of Guangzhou Concord Cancer Center, Wei Jiang, added that the institution welcomes this partnership as part of its efforts to expand its global contribution to the development of cancer services.
“We hope this collaboration will foster meaningful knowledge exchange and enhance public access to the best cancer treatment technologies and standards of care,” he stated.
This LoI serves as the foundation for further cooperation, which will be followed up with more specific partnership agreements. Moving forward, National Hospital remains optimistic that this collaboration will further strengthen its position as one of Indonesia’s leading cancer referral centers.
