Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide. However, advancements in medical technology and modern surgical techniques have brought significant improvements in the treatment of various heart conditions. Today, cardiac surgery is no longer focused solely on the success of the operation, but also on improving patients' quality of life through safer, more effective, and integrated approaches.
As part of its commitment to providing health education to the public, National Hospital hosted a Health Talk & Patient Gathering themed "The Latest Advances in Cardiac Surgery" in Kediri, East Java. Through this event, the community was invited to gain a deeper understanding of the latest developments in cardiac surgery, including surgical indications, available treatment options, and the postoperative recovery process.
During the event, dr. Edwin Yosef Widjaja, M.Ked.Klin., Sp.BTKV, Subsp. JD (K), FIATCVS, FICS, Thoracic, Cardiac, and Vascular Surgeon at National Hospital, presented the latest developments in cardiac surgery, including the importance of early detection and selecting treatment methods tailored to each patient's condition.
"Advancements in cardiac surgery technology and surgical techniques have created better opportunities for patients to receive appropriate treatment. However, it is equally important to recognize heart health conditions early and consult a specialist to determine the most suitable treatment plan," said dr. Edwin Yosef Widjaja.
Through this educational event, National Hospital also encouraged the community to become more aware of heart health and understand that the management of heart disease requires a comprehensive approach, ranging from prevention and screening to treatment supported by a multidisciplinary medical team.
In addition to the educational session, participants had the opportunity to engage in direct discussions with the specialist, asking questions about heart health, risk factors for heart disease, and the treatment options currently available at National Hospital.
"Heart health is an essential part of a person's overall quality of life. With the right knowledge and early screening, people can take better steps to maintain their heart health," added dr. Edwin.
National Hospital remains committed to delivering excellent healthcare services through the support of experienced medical professionals, modern facilities, and a patient-centered approach to care. Through various health education programs, National Hospital hopes to raise public awareness and encourage people to take a more active role in maintaining their health through regular medical check-ups.
