SURABAYA – National Hospital has introduced a new integrated service for the management of heart-related conditions. The services include the Intensive Cardio Cerebro Vascular Care Unit and Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP).
The Medical and Nursing General Manager of National Hospital, dr. Jordan Bakhriansyah, SpJP, FIHA, FESC, stated that National Hospital is equipped with a Cathlab facility that operates 24 hours and is fully integrated with the ICU and operating rooms.
“One floor, one service, fully integrated,” said the Vice Chairman II of the Central Board of the Indonesian Heart and Blood Vessel Specialist Association (PP PERKI) for the 2025–2028 period.
Dr. Jordan added that National Hospital’s Cathlab is also equipped with the ARTIS Icono Biplane Pro system. One of the advantages of this technology is its ability to provide faster and more comprehensive diagnostic results for patients.
“National Hospital is committed to providing integrated cardiac care facilities that are fast and responsive. We have the Biplane system in the Cathlab, supported by the Intensive Cardio Cerebro Vascular Care Unit as well as EECP,” he explained.
The Intensive Cardio Cerebro Vascular Care Unit is an intensive care service that focuses specifically on cardiac cases. This unit is expected to optimize services and improve outcomes in the treatment of heart and vascular diseases.
“As for EECP, it serves as an adjunct or additional therapy, particularly for patients who have already received maximum medical therapy and are not suitable candidates for further intervention or surgery,” he added.
Dr. Jordan also urged the public not to underestimate heart disorders. He revealed that the number of heart disease cases in Indonesia continues to rise, and patients are becoming increasingly younger.
“Heart disease is no longer limited to elderly patients; younger individuals are now increasingly affected,” he noted.
Meanwhile, the Director of National Hospital, dr. Hendera Henderi, SpOG, MHPM, stated that the hospital is ready to provide optimal and collaborative care with other specialists for cardiac treatment.
“We offer many centers of excellence, including cardiology, cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, neurology, and neurosurgery,” he said.
The CEO of National Hospital, Ang Hoey Tiong, hopes that the presence of the Intensive Cardio Cerebro Vascular Care Unit and Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP) services will help patients experiencing heart-related conditions, particularly those who require treatment approaches with lower risks.
“The flagship services at National Hospital are becoming increasingly comprehensive for the Indonesian community. There is no longer a need to seek treatment abroad, as hospitals in Indonesia, including National Hospital, now provide advanced medical facilities,” he concluded.
