National Hospital Provides Free Healthcare Assistance for 58 International Bhikkhus

National Hospital once again demonstrated its commitment to the community through a social service initiative. This time, National Hospital provided free healthcare assistance to 58 bhikkhus from four countries who stopped in Surabaya during their spiritual journey, Indonesia Walk for Peace (IWFP), toward Borobudur Temple.

National Hospital provided free vitamin C injections and a smart ambulance that the bhikkhus could use to check their health conditions while staying in Surabaya. This free healthcare assistance was made possible through a collaboration between National Hospital and Vihara Buddhayana Surabaya.

“National Hospital is here to provide health check-up assistance for the bhikkhus and bhantes who walked and arrived in Surabaya on Friday, May 15, 2026, as part of Indonesia Walk for Peace 2026. In addition, National Hospital also provided vitamins to the bhikkhus and bhantes before they continued their journey on foot to Borobudur,” said Ang Hoey Tiong, CEO of National Hospital, in Surabaya.

The bhikkhus were examined by dr. Amaranto Santoso O, Sp.PD, an Internal Medicine Specialist at National Hospital. Dr. Amaranto stated that the bhikkhus were in good health condition. “We are pleased to have been given the opportunity to contribute to Indonesia Walk For Peace,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Vihara Buddhayana welcomed the health check-up assistance and free vitamin support provided by National Hospital for the bhikkhus. They believed the vitamin injections could help provide additional energy for the bhikkhus during their journey.

“We are very pleased because these vitamin injections serve as a booster for the bhikkhus. Of course, this vitamin C booster can help restore their energy and maintain their overall health.
